“An inimitable experience”

We stumbled onto this restaurant in the lovely town of Tourrettes sur Loup quite by accident and were staggered at the quality of the food that the chef, Julien Bousseau, was able to produce from his tiny kitchen. His concept of a limited menu focusing on a handful of seasonal ingredients ensured each dish was unique and of outstanding quality.017

This young chef’s ability to create flavour matches and textural contrast in his dishes was a revelation and contrasted with so many of the pleasant yet unexceptional and formulaic meals that abound in Provence. But flair and imagination are nothing if the cooking is unskilled. Julien’s mastery of technique shines; flesh is perfectly cooked, sauces built on solid foundations.

Julien’s partner Leah runs front of house (generally on her own!) and does an amazing job. She is a true professional in her own right.

Only after finishing out meal did we find out this restaurant had been awarded a Michelin star. It is certainly well deserved. The setting, the food, the service – they are all outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Cote d’Azur or Provence regions, it is worthy of a detour. But make sure you have good directions and make a reservation!112
